Craig Sanderson had a decent life. Good job, nice apartment in Talos, and Denise in Payroll seemed to be warming up to him. A nice, quiet life, which was all he wanted. He was also flanked by two neighbors into "new age-y" things they didn't quite understand. On the night of a planetary conjunction, they - unknown to each other - began a ritual. The same ritual, in fact, which grew faster than they could control. The energies met in Craig's apartment, interfering and strengthening each other, building and searching for some sort of release. They found it in Craig, who at the time was singing in the shower. The arcane powers flowed into him. He blew out his apartment wall. Once the emergency crews left, he was visited by one of Paragon's heroes who offered to teach him to containhis new ability, one which wasn't going to leave him any time soon. He could contain it - or, he realized, use it to help the city.
