Mutants. Boy we got it rough. The bottom of the super hero food chain, as it were. Those that study magic or infuse themselves with technology get all the credit, while we mutants are treated as inferior beings because of our genetic quirks. Birth defects. That’s how they explain our abilities, and it’s spectacularly unfair. I was born a psychokinetic. At first, I thought it was awesome, my ability to influence minds and move objects with my thoughts. But my wealthy parents saw it as a social embarrassment. A crisis. Of course. For a while I struck out on my own, determined to be a great hero, despite my “disadvantage”. That’s crap. Mutation is a gift, not a defect. While on a task force with the Legendary Statesman, I was exposed to the Well of Furies, which had just released 8 elemental beings of great power. An ice giant, a rock golem, a thunder god… and a phoenix. I knew Cimerora was bad news. But the phoenix found me, and granted me abilities far beyond anything I ever had a right to hope for. I can control fire now; fire in it’s entirety. I can take on a flame shadow form, smoldering like a dark cinder. I can even resuscitate myself, if slain, rising from the ashes and born anew. Taking on the title of Kinetic Phoenix, I joined a group of elite Incarnates tasked with restoring peace in Dark Astoria and driving away the darkness that lives there. I wonder what my pretentious folks think of me now…
