Sawface was once a capo for the Marcone family in the Rogue Isles, but he is no longer associated with the Family. He is currently the acting Don for the Commission, a newer organized criminal racket that began to take hold in the Rogue Isles in 2009.
Backstory
Carlo "the Jackal" Giacalone was once a capo for the Marcones in the Rogue Isles, but he wound up on the wrong end of a paranoid accusation that nearly cost him his life. In the frequent and ongoing gang war between the Marcones and the Verandi crime families, Giacalone was framed by rival capos for collaborating with the Verandi. The verdict was that Giacalone was to be made into the example the other capos would continue to learn with.
Marcone enforcers kidnapped Giacalone and beat him nearly to death, dragging him to a Nutri-Paste rending plant in Cap au Diable to finish the job by dismembering him alive with powersaws and throwing his remains into the next batch of Nutri-Paste. Fortunately for Giacalone, his loyal soldiers knew he was innocent and barged in on his captors just as the first powersaw was taken to his face.
As gunfire blared around him, Giacalone turned the powersaw against his captors, drawing upon a tremendous reserve of strength to slaughter the enforcers in a savage bloodbath. By the end of the carnage Giacalone's face and body were horribly torn and shred into ribbons, but his men managed to save him by bringing him to the Facemaker. Ordinarily the Facemaker doesn't provide medical services, but with a gun to her head she was able to call upon a few of her contacts among the Vahzilok to help her stitch Giacalone up and save his life.
Months passed, and although the Marcones hoped that Giacalone was dead they remained wary as none of their enforcers returned to confirm that he was in fact dead. Almost a year later, brazen squads of masked men began shaking down Family rackets, ambushing and savagely murdering known Marcone associates, and eventually began butchering Marcone capos and consiglieres. One of the Family's sins had certainly come back to haunt them.
The word on the street was that a new criminal mastermind known as Sawface was quite literally carving his way up into the criminal hierarchy in the Rogue Isles. His primary victims were associates of the Marcones, and Emil Marcone wanted to know if this Sawface was in the employ of the Verandi. Emil's investigations concluded that yes, the man known as Sawface certainly was doing some jobs for the Verandi, and if he was left unchecked the Marcones would begin losing significantly more territory in the Rogue Isles.
The Marcones began attacking the Verandi with the purpose of finding Sawface. Many of these raids ended in bloodbaths with heavy casualties on both sides of the conflict, leaving the Rogue Isles Police and sometimes Arachnos Wolf Spiders to clean up the mess and finish off any survivors. Whenever Verandi enforcers and soldiers were kidnapped by the Marcones they refused to talk about Sawface, knowing that the fate he would impose upon them would be far worse than anything Emil Marcone would mete out. Most of the Verandi knew nothing about Sawface's whereabouts, but they revealed much in the way of legend - he is immune to pain, he cannot be killed, he forces the families of his victims to cannibalize their loved ones, and that he may be a cannibal himself. Sawface apparently made a deal with the Verandi to weaken the Marcones, and that by doing so a devil had been unleashed upon the Isles.
As the body count began rising, the Marcones and the Verandi were expending too many resources against each other, and one thing remained constant - no one knew where Sawface could be found, but everyone knew where he had struck. The bloodshed eventually drew the attention of President Marchand and Lord Recluse, but rather than bringing Sawface to "justice" Recluse offered the brutal crimelord a olace within Arachnos. Sawface was finally revealed as a protege of Scirocco, but by this time the savage mastermind was too close to Arachnos and Lord Recluse for the Marcones to make any sudden moves.
For now, Sawface continues to walk among the inner circle of Arachnos' highest leaders, but he is primarily focused on managing his varied criminal and legitimate business interests. Contrary to his violent past Sawface behaves as a refined gentleman in public, and no one who knows of him belives this demeanor for a second. Behind the mask of civility lies a demon, and Sawface is among the most feared criminal masterminds in the Rogue Isles.
Powers
Sawface does not display any super human abilities at all. He is extremely tough and possesses a tremendous amount of natural strength and endurance that he maintains through rigorous exercise and conditioning. It isn't known if Sawface has experimented with strength increasing substances such as steroids or Superadine. He arms himself with standard semi-automatic pistols and a number of high-tech devices and explosives. Sawface is also accompanied at all times by as many as six personal bodyguards, fearless members of his crew who are loyal to him without question.
