Foundation X

Foundation X is an all-mutant supergroup that is funded by and works for the Duchesne Foundation, a philanthropic organization that conducts research and looks after the needs of superhuman beings, especially mutants. Foundation X mutants are called upon to protect the interests of the Duchesne Foundation, as well as mutants in general. When dangerous mutants need to be apprehended, whether they are criminals or recently discovered mutants who can not control their abilities, Foundation X responds to the call and attempts to safely control the situation. Foundation X mutants also perform private security at Duchesne Foundation facilities, can receive contracts to extend security consulting services to private corporations, firms, and individuals, and they attend civil rights functions or political rallies and events on behalf of mutants. Due to the potentially hazardous nature of their engagements, Foundation X does not permit underage mutants within their ranks.

Rank Structure

For ease of administration and delegation of responsibilities, the following rank structure is used within Foundation X.

  • Agent: Foundation X Agents occupy the lowest tier within the organization and perform most of the direct security and investigative functions. They conduct and monitor surveillance, guard installations and checkpoints, and perform protective escort duties as required. Unlike the Special Agent, the Agent's duties are mainly those conducted in the open. Due to the development of their mutant abilities, most Agents eventually rise to the rank of Special Agent, but until that time they tend to work in small teams numbering no more than eight Agents.
  • Special Agent: The Special Agent is more of an undercover operative and receives more advanced and sophisticated training than Agents do. Their security work involves more dangerous and up-close encounters with their adversaries, frequently requiring them to run solo operations. Their mutant abilities tend to be rather well-developed and they possess a diverse enough set of powers to be able to handle themselves on their own against many levels of threats.
  • Case Officer: The Case Officer, or Handler, organizes diverse teams of Foundation X Agents and Special Agents to perform a variety of duties. Case Officers don't just have desk jobs; they tend to follow their teams into a security or crisis situation and coordinate their teams' actions effectively.
  • Chief: Case Officers report to the Chiefs, who serve as an advisory board for the Director. Chiefs are responsible for maintaining the Foundation X headquarters as well as recruiting new mutants into the program and keeping up-to-date personnel files. The Chiefs set the rules and regulations for Foundation X and ensure that personnel abide by them. Chiefs are appointed by the Director.
  • Director: The Director is responsible for keeping Foundation X alive and well, from maintaining positive public support from the world's citizens to the receiving of funding from various parties other than the Duchesne Foundation. The position is more political than anything, but the Director can take a more active role in the administration of Foundation X if need be.

Current Roster

Uniform

Foundation X does issue its agents an official uniform, which is required to be worn when acting in an official capacity. The details of this uniform are listed below:

  • Head: Masks with Hair
  • Face: Any/Logan L2
  • Upper Body: Tight
  • Chest: Flak Jacket A1/Flak Jacket L2
  • Shoulders: Justice Plates L2, A1
  • Chest Detail: Stealth A1, A1
  • Gloves: Justice L2, A1
  • Belt: Stealth A1, A1 (Tactical, Tech, or Official belts may be substituted)
  • Lower Body: Tight
  • Pants: Armored Pads L2, A1
  • Boots: Justice w/ Pad L2, A1
  • Supergroup Emblem: The supergroup emblem is not worn for this option

Players are free to use individualized pieces such as goggles, hair styles, capes, wings, and weapons, among others, to customize their heroes otherwise. Uniform considerations can be given for mutants with odd physical characteristics that the standard uniform does not easily accommodate.

Recruiting of New Members

Foundation X is currently looking to expand its roster of agents. Preferred membership is extended to graduates of DIADEM but mutants with other educational or training backgrounds will be accepted on an individual basis. Operationally, Foundation X performs roles similar to those of fire, rescue, and law-enforcement officers so mutants with similar backgrounds are desirable. Mutants who also spent some time in any branch of the military or with a private security consulting corporation are also desirable. The minimum age limit for Foundation X mutants is 22 years of age, allowing enough time for mutants to at least complete their collegiate-level studies or to have spent some time in the military. Mutants with backgrounds as convicted criminals or felons, even if they have paid their debts to society, are barred from membership. There are no other restrictions applied for gender, nationality, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, or orientation.

Who We Are Looking For

Below is some information on the types of heroes and players we are looking to join Foundation X. Please send us a message to @Major Paragon during game play.

  • Core Players: Ideally we should have as many as eight actual players in Foundation X, each with a hero they designate as their 'core member' of the team. This will allow us to be able to form an eight-member team comprised entirely of Foundation X mutants. Alternate heroes are allowed to be used by any player, especially since we may enjoy experimenting with the variety of powers. These alternate heroes can be considered reinforcements for the core team.
  • Origin: Applicants to Foundation X should really be Mutants in origin, but some considerations are given for heroes with other origins and backgrounds. A Peacebringer or Warshade that merged with a deceased or dying mutant works well, as does a mutant who also has a Magic origin in their background. If your mutant looks better using Throwing Knives or a Taser instead of the Mutagen, that can also work.
  • Mature Roleplayers: Foundation X is a roleplaying-based supergroup, so players who enjoy roleplaying their heroes rather than just focusing on gaining security levels quickly and maximizing their PvP potential are encouraged to join. It's great to gain levels and kick butt in PvP - we'd just like to get a little more involved than that. We also want players who are mature in their behavior, will treat others with respect, and realize that this is just a game and meant to be fun for everyone.
  • Biographies: You don't have to go crazy, but coming up with a good background and history for your hero just makes them more interesting - especially in a game where dozens of other players use heroes with the same power sets your hero has. Differentiate your hero with a unique story, and she will be that much more memorable.
  • Hero Names: Names that are spelled properly or easily are the most accepted; take a look at some of the names in the Current Roster above to get some ideas. A good benchmark is what we call the Comic Book Test for names. If the hero's name is something that you can pronounce and it looks like it fits in an actual comic book then it is probably a very good name. Names spelled in L33T formats, names that are silly (like Superpants), or those that have awkward spellings won't likely be considered (maybe someone already took Powercharge, so you spelled your hero's name like P0wercharge or XxPowerchargexX - that just won't work).
  • Active or Casual Players: It's ok for casual players to join Foundation X, but please try to play at least once per week to maintain some contact with other players. We're not gung-ho about being on every day and you won't get kicked from the supergroup for too much inactivity (unless you're gone for more than 45 days - at which point we'll assume you stopped playing with that hero for the moment).

What We Would Like to See

  • Prestige: Since Prestige is what is used to construct and develop a Base, it is important for members to earn Prestige for their supergroups. Some players are set against earning Prestige, however, even though they still want to enjoy the benefits of teleporters, medbays, and worktables that only Prestige can afford. Foundation X will never mandate that players earn Prestige for the supergroup, but it is appreciated.
