This leg of Arachnos was the brainchild of Arbiter Leery who founded the group at the behest of Lord Recluse following the events of Lincoln Isle.
The Protectors are based off purchased Crey's Revenant Hero Program technology. Instead of following mind manipulation and clones, Leery chose to use those individuals completely loyal, almost fanatical, to Arachnos. Only the elite of the elite would be imbued with super powers and given broad authority to find and combat all threats to Arachnos and the Rogue Isles. The Protectors would serve as Leery's shock troops.
The Protectors typically operate solo, with three Protectors in the immediate vicinity typically being bad news for someone.
There is only one known case of a Rogue Isle Protector going rogue, specifically supporting the Arbiter in Warburg.
