Also, make sure you take a look at the Help page. There are a lot of preloaded images, missions, and contact info templates, and what you want to add might already be there.

This template should be subst'd for proper usage:

That will place the contents of the welcome message on the user's talk page. The message will autosign itself, so you do not need to manually add -- ~~~~ at the end.
