Decel-R8 is the designation assigned to an artificial intelligence unit currently operation in Paragon City. An autonomous robotic lifeform its primary role is to gather intelligence and retrieve stolen data.

Personality
Implanted with the personality of Robert Wesker, one of the D.A.T.A. technicians tasked with repairing the damage it had suffered prior to discovery, Decel-R8 is quiet and nerdy. Tending to rely more on obvious clues than half-baked theories Decel-R8 seems to be quite stupid at times, but its vast array of knowledge, some of which appears to be from the future at times, means it makes a valuable research assistant.
Abilities
Gravity Control
A device of unknown origin contained within the chest cavity of Decel-R8 allows it to manipulate gravitons within localised fields. This can be used in a number of ways, from increasing a target's weight limiting their movement to reducing it drastically, causing them to be launched into the air.
Kinetics
Possibly related to his gravitational controlling ability Decel-R8 is able to draw kinetic energy from a target and redirect it to either weaken his foes or to strengthen his allies. Very useful in a support role this power can shift the balance of a battle as foes suddenly find themselves weak and fatigued while facing heroes revitalised and full of power.
Self Destruction
As a last ditch defence Decel-R8 can overload its internal power supply, causing a large fiery explosion which can heavily damage anyone getting too close. Unfortunately this completely drains both Decel-R8's primary and backup power systems leaving him immobilised until its teammates can revive it.
Site-to-Site Transporter
Part of his original hardware, the site-to-site transporter is able to teleport Decel-R8 directly to its next mission objective quickly. Unfortuantely, like most of its original systems, the device was heavily damaged when it was first discovered and so now can only operate after long charging periods.

Decel-R8's main strength lies in a support role, weakening enemies and leaving them open to attacks from others. Due to this it prefers to remain at a distance, launching attacks from the relative safety behind more close-combat orientated heroes.
Strengths
With its gravitational and kinetic abilities Decel-R8 can easily immobilise and repel enemies who get too close. Its draining powers can use targets' strength against them, replenishing health and bolstering the abilities of allies at the enemies expense.
Weaknesses
Using its powers for long durations quickly drains Decel-R8's damaged power source, leaving it open to assaults. Also Decel-R8 is quite slow moving and lacks the ability to jump very high without artificial assistance.
Character History
Found in a crater close to the Vanguard base which was irradiated with chronometric particles the advanced artificial intelligence was heavily damaged. Handed over to D.AT.A. the remains were studied and eventually reconstructed, although with only limited functionality due to the majority of the original components having been irreparably destroyed.
With the majority of the AI's neural net erased the researchers imprinted the personality of one of the technicians onto the robot's positronic matrix. After a battery of psychological testing one technician named Robert Wesker was chosen, mainly due to his level headed and drab personality which the researchers felt would be least likely to cause an overload in the matrix.
When the new lifeform came online it was given the designation Decel-R8, a coding which had been found stamped onto the inner surface of its brain casing. Seeming to respond well to stimulae the droid was soon put to work solving research problems for the team, with disasterous results. While the robot could easily grasp facts and figures actually combining them into meaningful results seemed beyond its capabilities. It was soon decided that the primary role of the lifeform was more in the field, collecting data for later processing.
With that in mind D.A.T.A. contacted Freedom Corps, offering their new prize up for patrol work, hoping such activities would enable the AI to expand its skills and perhaps one day unlock the secrets of its discovery.

Alternate Costumes
Main Costume
Although mechanical in nature and fully aware of this Decel-R8 believes that a human outfit is required in order to blend in more easily with society. To this end it has acquired a worn leather trenchcoat, broadbrimmed hat and red tie in order to seem more human.

Trivia
- When in combat situations Decel-R8 has been known to speak in the same manner as a Rikti, something which has worried those he works with.
- Decel-R8 believes it has managed to successfully disguised its mechanical nature by donning a trenchcoat, broadbrimmed hat and tie. Technicians at D.A.T.A. have yet to correct this misconception.
