An Anti-Villain is an antagonist whose character or goals are antithetical to traditional villainy. Unlike most villains the character may act in a manner which is highly principled and honourable even though their goal goes against what society may deem acceptable. Alternatively they may be a villain who believes they are acting for the greater good but whose methods are beyond even those of an Anti-hero, causing nothing but damage and destruction in their wake.
