Lady Angel is a Heroic Defender on Zukunft. Her power sets are Empathy and Psychic Blast.

Originally a nurse, she has access to magic powers via a pact with an unknown god, having become sort of a mortal angel. Her civilian name is Noemi Chandler.

Character History

Nurse

Noemi Chandler was born on 8 September 1983 in Barrington, Rhode Island, where she lived until she was 18. She was then to study at Paragon University, when the Rikti invaded. Noemi went to Paragon City anyway and voluntarily helped treating the victims of the war. She then decided to become a professional nurse.

Noemi frequently treated superheroes in the rebuilt city, although she was completely fine to remain in the background.

Angel

The hero who would eventually change Noemi's destiny went by the name of Angel Man (name not unique). He appeared somewhat clumsy, but that only made him more determined. He had been a regular human, too, but somehow ended up the supposed servant of a deity. This pact improved his body; the most visible effect was that he grew wings, although this might had been his own intention. He also inherited magic powers, most notably psychic ones. He never revealed the god's identity to Freedom Corps, nor how their pact had come to be.

In spring 2007, an evil sorcerer named Othathurg began stalking Angel Man. He did not do anything else to attract attention, making it impossible to track him down. Angel Man narrowly managed to escape Othathurg several times but was finally captured by him in early July. The sorcerer intended to drain the hero's power for himself, but failed to properly contain him. Angel Man managed to break free, but stopped to at least skim over Othathurg's notes about him. Before he had finished, the sorcerer caught him again and quickly proceeded to perform his ritual.

Feeling his power slowly but steadily flowing away, Angel Man realized that his Medicom appeared to be still active. As he did not see any other way out, he injured himself in order to force an emergency teleport. The transport itself worked, but the spell remained in effect. The hero realized he was getting weaker and weaker, and would soon no longer be able to resist, whereupon all of his remaining power would be drained almost immediately. He then realized he could give his power to a third person, possibly saving it. Angel Man told the nurse – Noemi Chandler – this and asked her to help him, to which she naturally answered yes, not realizing it was herself whom he intended to give his power. When he did, he caught Noemi by surprise, and by the time she came to her senses again, Angel Man had succumbed to his condition. Noemi realized she could not have saved him, anyway, and remembered him thanking her, which mostly prevented his death from gnawing at her conscience.

Soon after, a team of heroes managed to defeat Othathurg. The sorcerer disappeared, but not without clearing his lair, leaving Noemi with barely any knowledge about her new powers. She would not even learn the name of the god she was now linked to, although she would occasionally see him in visions.

Heroine

Noemi – soon nicknamed Lady Angel – was not very enthusiastic that she had become a heroine herself, and was going to pass her powers to another worthy person. However, she still assisted other heroes on their missions due to her sense of responsibility. After a few weeks, she found that she had already become a minor celebrity. Accustomed to superheroism and by no means disliking it, going back was no longer her intention. When she eventually did resume working as a nurse, it was only in addition to being a "field medic", and directly for Freedom Corps. Later that month, Lady Angel joined a formal task force to combat the Clockwork menace. A comrade then convinced her to join a supergroup, the Dragon Warriors. She subsequently befriended Sayuri Dusk, a teenager who joined two days later and had much greater problems coming to term with her situation. This feeling of security helped them through the Rikti World Invasion.

Over the years, the Dragon Warriors' activity decreased. This eventually led to some confusion whether the group could still be considered existing and who was still considered a member. In early December 2010, Lady Angel decided to formally quit.

Personality and Motivation

Lady Angel's main intention is to help other people. She did not realize this was what she wants to do until the Rikti War, but she has subsequently made it her life purpose.

Powers and Abilities

Combat

The magic powers Lady Angel gained from her god appear to ultimately be psychic. Due to her personality and profession she developed potent healing powers via empathy – she basically tells her comrades' bodies (or her own) what to do. She is also able to attack her opponents this way, although she rarely does so when on a team.

She has also recently learned to conceal herself, and to intimidate others.

Other

An apparently non-psychic power of Lady Angel is that of flight. She inherited wings along with her magic from Angel Man, but it has been revealed that she subconsciously supports them with magic; Angel Man might have grown his wings on purpose without actually needing them. However, by now Lady Angel considers them part of her identity.

Vulnerabilities

The power drain spell that Othathurg developed and cast on Angel Man would presumably work on Lady Angel, too, but it has vanished along with the sorcerer.
