Overview

The Menagerie of the Lost Lands make their debut in Mission Architect Arc #95273

In the Lost Lands, there are untold numbers of mysterious races. Some were known to the mortal world, most were forgotten or dismissed as myth and a few never revealed themselves at all. Still, even magical beings are susceptible to anger, jealousy, pettiness and rivalry. Beings of like-mind found themselves forging alliances during times of conflict. The Menageries of Dawn and Dusk are two such alliances.

The Menagerie of Dawn

King Lionsmane

King Lionsmane is the lord of all the animal races of the Lost Lands, though there are many who do not recognize his authority. He forged the Menagerie of Dawn as a bulwark against his rivals and to enforce his rule in his kingdom. Though all members have sworn fealty to him, King Lionsmane knows that each has their own agenda for joining his alliance. He is always aware of court intrigue and has his own agents within each of the member races.

King Lionsmane possess great strength and has a golden shield forged from enchanted metals.

Wolf of Winters

The Northern Realms of the Lost Lands are stark and barren places. Only the hardiest of races can survive in these harsh lands. The Wolf of Winters is lord of the Menwolf, a race of Wolfkin. He is continually vigilant of the Wolfen, a sister race of Wolfkin and the historic enemies of the Menwolf.

The Wolf of Winters is a master of cold and ice and wields both as deadly weapons.

Autumn Huntress

Hunting in the forests of the Lost Lands is a dangerous challenge at even the best of times. It is not unheard of for the hunter to become the hunted, but when the prey has mastered archery, then perhaps it is time to consider farming. The Autumn Huntress is the defender of the creatures of the woodlands. She believes that hunters have the right to seek prey in the forests, but prey should have an equal opportunity to strike back.

The Autumn Huntress is an expert with the bow and arrow, she also has the ability to cast a mystic shield to protect herself and her charges. Her clothing is made of naturally tanned leather, however, the skins were obtained from defeated hunters.

Lynx of Leaves

The Lynx of Leaves is a child born of both the Animal and Plant Kingdoms, as such she is one of the most powerful members of the Menagerie of Dawn. However, her gentle nature tempers this power and as a result, she is quiet and reserved girl who focuses on her power in the aid of others.

The Lynx of Leaves has inherited powers from her unique parentage. She has the ability to commune with any plant and the ability to enhance the metabolism of any animal.

Sun Serpent

The Sun Serpent is the sole representative of his people in the Sunlands. The Sunlands is a region of intense heat and arid sands. The Sun Serpent is a champion of his people and has been sent as an emissary to King Lionsmane.

The Sun Serpent enjoys a good fight, a strong wine and even stronger women. The Sun Serpent possess the Light of Kor, a powerful magic artifact which grants him the powers of the sun. As such, he can control even the most intense fires. However, he can also use the warmth to soothe comfort his comrades.

Blade Mouse

The Blade Mouse is a fierce swordsman, sworn to defend the honor of King Lionsmane. Many years ago, before he became King, Lionsmane was wounded when he was ambushed by bandits. The Blade Mouse bravely came to his rescue and dressed Lionsmane's wounds. Lionsmane invited the Blade Mouse to come and serve as a member of his Royal Guard. The Blade Mouse has continued to serve loyally ever since then.

The Blade Mouse is a master swordsman, proficient in the use of two rapiers simultaneously. His speed and skill has resulted in numerous victories both in tournaments and on the field of battle.

The Menagerie of Dusk

Iron Wulf

Iron Wulf is the lord of his Wolfen clan. He is also the sworn enemy of the Menwolf, as led by the Wolf of Winters. Iron Wulf inherited the command of the Menagerie of Dusk, when the original commander was slain by King Lionsmane.

Iron Wulf's armor once belonged to the legendary Darkwolf. Not only is it forged of the hardest and coldest iron from the Northern Realms, it is also infused with dark necromantic energies. Iron Wulf is only a moderately skilled swordsman, preferring to rely on speed and ferocity to trump the skills of his opponents.

Spydraa

Spydraa was once a beautiful princess from the Sun Lands. She often used her beauty to manipulate others to do her bidding. Ultimately, this resulted in her being cursed by a djinn for her vanity and selfishness. Her form was corrupted to that of creatures which scuttle in the night and crawl through rot and filth. Spyrdraa is resentful and bitter and uses her powers to punish the entire world for her misfortune.

Spydraa's curse has granted her the ability to wield necromantic energies, which she often uses to enhance her physical strength and to form a defensive shield, when needed.

Nightshriek

The creature known as Nightshriek emerged from beneath the dungeons of Darkwolf castle. It slew a great number of the Wolfen guards before it was finally subdued by Iron Wulf himself. Iron Wulf then bound Nightshriek into his service as a condition of its defeat. Nightshriek obeys the will of his dark master and still resides in the dungeons, where it is allowed to feast on the blood of prisoners.

The cries of Nightshriek can pierce souls and shatter minds. Those who have heard the shrieks suffer greatly, the lucky ones perish outright whereas the unfortunate are rendered as gibbering mindless shells.

Dragonchill

Dragonchill comes from the extreme southern regions of the Lost Lands. He has traveled great distances to join with Iron Wulf and the Menagerie of Dusk. Dragonchill wishes to bring eternal winter to all of the Lost Lands. He believes an alliance with Iron Wulf will bring his vision of a cold world to fruition.

Dragonchill, like all of his kind, has an inherent power over cold and ice. It is said that Dragonchill's people survived the Twilight of the First Age brought about by the Ice Dragons when they agreed to usher in the next Ice Age.

The signs and portents indicate that this time has come and Dragonchill is prepared to raise the Ice Dragons once more.

Hive Raider

Deep beneath the forests of the Lost Lands are an endless network of hives and tunnels. The UnderHive is the realm of an insectaur race of peoples. The UnderHivers are in a constant state of war, an unending series of raids and counter-attacks for generations. The Hive Raider is one of the most accomplished warriors ever to have emerged from this martial environment. He joined the Menagerie of Dusk after Iron Wulf provided a legion of Wolfen troops to root out and burn an enemy clan of the Hive Raider.

The Hive Raider is a fearsome fighter, adept at the art of the ambush. When on the attack, his body bristles with spines capable of piercing even the hardest armor.

Jabberwokk

In a land of mystery and magic, there are some things that are beyond the ken of even the most learned mage. The entity known as the Jabberwokk is just such a thing. No one knows from where the Jabberwokk, nor does anyone know just what it is. The Jabberwokk has been around far longer than anyone can remember and its form and allegiances have always shifted. This current incarnation has allied itself with Iron Wulf. Its reasons are not known, nor ultimately are they even important. All that matters to Iron Wulf is that this powerful being is on his side…for now.

The Jabberwokk is a creature of contradictions. Its body is a mix of widely differing parts, some are even mechanical. It wields both fire and ice as weapons, seemingly without any ill effect to itself.
