Alejandra was born in New Mexico to Arthur and Rachel Torres, a young, newly immigrated couple. For reasons unknown, they abandoned their child at the hospital she was born in, and were never heard from again. She was eventually admitted into an orphanage in Fresno, California. It is here where she first met [[Bloody Chain (Freedom)|Amayra Zayre]]. For years, they would be the Yin to the others Yang, respectively. They would both make the transfer to another orphanage in Los Angeles, and it is here where Richard and Janet Hawke met Alejandra. While the couple was open-minded about adopting another child, Alejandra was never be able to convince Amayra to join her new family. Despite this, Alejandra visited Amayra frequently until she left the orphanage at 18. For the next few years, Amayra disappeared with little to no contact.
