Powers among Superdudes and on SD Earth are primarily based around Katras. Individuals align to their Katra based on the most positive aspects of their personality and attributes, and in return those positive aspects are amplified, empowered, and focused to the level of superhuman capabilities through their Katra.

A person's Katra does not necessarily need to be all-defining, and many people have aspects of multiple Katras within them, but their chosen Katra represents what they are best at. Each Katra specializes in certain things and supports the others in its own unique ways.

There are 5 Katras and each has its own Supernator, who acts effectively as a quasi-incarnate for their Katra. These 5 Supernators are able to empower or awaken superpowers in others under certain circumstances, and are able to use their energies to purify/destroy the energies of the Taint of Decay. Players and characters who interact with the Coalition are likely to run into Zoe Dexter (Dex to her friends) who is the Supernator for the Body Katra.

Spirit Katra:
The Inspiration. The Spirit Katra inspires all around it. It helps others to see and realize their potential, and to believe in a better world worth fighting for. Spirit Katras empower positive potential and help their friends and allies to be more than they thought they could be, and those around them are better for it. They are the spark that gives life to hopes and dreams. Spirit Katras are often, but not always, skilled with energy based superpowers.

Mind Katra:
The Thinker. The Mind Katra is highly intelligent and analytical. They absorb and process information at startling speeds. They possess the ability both to plan down to the smallest detail, and to learn, analyze, and adapt rapidly and efficiently. The Mind Katra understands and analyzes, and finds the best, most efficient path forward towards a better world. Mind Katras are often, but not always, skilled with mental or psionic based superpowers.

Body Katra:
The Momentum. The Body Katra is fast, strong, and full of boundless energy. They are doers, using their strength and energy to help their friends and hinder their enemies. Always moving, always doing, they push always forward. They are fighters, vibrant and strong and tireless, always working to make the world a better place. Body Katras are often, but not always, skilled with physical force or martial arts based superpowers.

Soul Katra:
The Unshakeable. The Soul Katra is strong and steady, in tune with themselves and the world around them. They possess unflinching determination and tremendous willpower, as well as an unshakeable belief in the power of good and the potential for the world to be a better place. When times are difficult and it seems like no progress is ever made, or when times are dark and it seems like the struggle for a better tomorrow might be lost entirely, it is the Soul Katra whose strength of will sustains others to continue the fight. Soul Katras are often, but not always, skilled with nature, light, or magic based powers.

Unknown Katra:
The Unknowable. Unknown Katras are a bit of a mystery, even to themselves. Luck. Chance. Intuition. Destiny. Fate. The chaos of possibility and potentiality and what might be, of things just out of sight or hidden in darkness. The Unknown Katra taps somehow into these things to gain knowledge and understanding that it would seemingly be impossible for them to have, and in so doing can find the small, seemingly insignificant things no one else would notice that have the potential to change the world for the better, or save it from a fate too horrible to think about. Unknown Katras are often, but not always, skilled with prediction or divination based superpowers.
