Powers

ARK satellites are composed entirely of nano machines named ARKs. These machines replicate themselves once they have sufficient additional mass. On demand, tremendous quantities of ARKs are hurled through the atmosphere near the command & control gear (C&C gear). Once enough ARKs are near the user, they configure into a gadget. Prototype C&C gear was loaded with multiple gadget plans. This allows configuration into traps, devices, robots, even poisons, and more. After a short time, these gadgets disintegrate, unable to maintain cohesion.

History

These satellites were launched near the end of the Hamidon Wars on Preatorian Earth. The initiative developing this idea managed to launch several thousand of the small satellites into varying polar and equatorial orbits. All research and command facilities were then wiped out before they could be deployed as planned. Prototypes of the C&C gear could be found within a few wrecked facilities around the world. Since the C&C gear was still in a prototype phase, each individual prototype may contain unique plans.

Appearance

Orbiting Satellites

When deployed into orbit, each silvery, reflective satellite was about the size of a baseball. While dormant, it spread into a super-thin disc to maximize surface area. This better allowed it to collect dust, micro-meteorites and other orbiting space junk. During active use, it returns to a sphere. Because of the large unplanned dormancy period before they began to be used, some have swelled to considerable size and mass, far beyond original operational parameters.

C&C Gear

The command & control gear for the satellites is about the size of a cordless telephone. The construction of the prototype gear was modular. This allows the various components to be distributed over the soldier's body. The largest main section is commonly attached to the forearm. Other gear is located in helmets, belts, exoskeletons and backpacks.
