Origin
Amelia Solstice was abducted from her parents as an infant and raised by the Circle of Thorns. She was brought up in the dark ways of the Circle, and is thus fully trained in the arts of dark magic and archery. While searching through the CoT library as a teen, she found a spellbook focusing on the manipulation of "dark mist." She urged the Circle to train her in this particular dark art, and to their delight, she picked it up with amazing finesse. When she had completed her training, the Circle gave her the gift of an enchanted jewel - a sparkling piece of obsidian, enchanted with the essence of the dark mist, which she now wears proudly on her belt. As an homage to the gifts given to her by the Circle, she eventually took on the name of "Obsidian Mist".
As she reached adult-hood, Amelia found the exploits of the Circle to be distateful and asked permission to pursue her own life as a vigilante. Surprisingly, due to their fondness for Amelia, they let her go; but, before she left, they told her that they would always hold the doors open for her, and that she would always be welcome in Oranbega. For a long time, Amelia fought with the supergroup, "The Strands of Fate," a group of heroes focused on protecting the Well of Furies while studying its nature, and, promoting the use of its power in protecting the people of Paragon.
Amelia occasionally visited her old friends in the Circle, even sometimes wearing her old CoT robes as a show of respect to her mentors. Despite their objections to this odd behavior, the various members of the Strands of Fate gracefully gave her their blessing to do this. As a show of solidarity, they tried to avoid confrontations with the Circle; and, in the event that that was unavoidable, they left Amelia out of the battle so she wouldn't have to betray her friends.
Fall From Grace
After a few years of trying to play by the rules, Amelia once again found herself the victim of horrifying circumstance when she was abducted and abused by members of the Council. She was enraged that Council was able to chemically subdue her despite her tremendous magical abilities, and almost lost her sanity after the unspeakable atrocities they committed to her body while in their custody. Eventually she freed herself from their underground labyrinths, but was so scarred - emotionally and physically - that she fled to the Rogue Isles, forever forsaking the life of a hero.
Consumed with hatred and fury toward any type of oppression, Amelia set to the streets, annihilating every criminal and heathen in her path. She felt that her actions were justified since the people she was killing weren't innocent - they were murderers themselves, monsters of the grizzliest kind. She felt that death was kinder than abduction and torture, a fate she would have preferred for herself while in the hands of the Council; so, when she took out her newly forged murderous instincts on the filth that crowds the streets of the Rogue Islands, she favored the technique of using her mists to sneak up on her unsuspecting victims and cutting off all their senses before sucking the life directly out of their souls.
However, no rationalization in the world could account for so much life taken, no matter how justified, and soon Amelia began to turn into a dark and twisted woman - someone even her friends in the Circe of Thorns would never recognize. Once reaching the status of Incarnate, she learned some truly dark magic in Cimerora during a mission to invade the caves housing the Well of Furies. Now, she can take the form of a Gargon, even using her stare to petrify those foolish enough to put themselves in her path. She even learned how to crystallize her skin in battle, turning into a living statue of pure Obsidian, protecting her in battle while striking fear into the hearts of her victims. Eventually, she abandoned every moral she'd ever had, and gave herself completely to the ideology of "Villain". She joined the Villain Group, "The Legions of Fate", led by the malevolent Agent Inhakos, a group she fights alongside to this very day.
