Background

Dr. Julian Blud is a brilliant psychologist, parapsychologist, and medical doctor. While doing research into ESP and cognative dissonance, he developed the ability to unlock latent psychic abilities through gene manipulation. Performing the experiment upon himself, he discovered that he could use his mind to cause others to experience intense and lifelike illusions.

He went to his friend Jonathan Smythe, who helped him field test his new abilities against some Council recruiters operating out of a Galaxy City warehouse.

The test was a success, but unfortunately for Dr. Blud, he didn't wear a mask and Council analysts discovered his identity. Council agents broke into Dr. Blud's laboratory and stole his work materials and notes.

Despondant, Dr. Blud went to his friend Doctor Fa who revealed that he also had powers and worked with a team of superheroes known as The Battling Monkeys. The Monkeys tracked the research down, but during the battle the material was destroyed.

Dr. Blud has declined to recreate the material, deciding that the ability to create superheroes (or supervillains) was much too dangerous, but continues to fight the good fight with the Battling Monkeys, mostly teaming with his wife, Mrs. Blud and his brother Bubba Blud.

Current Status

Dr. Julian Blud is enjoying semi-retirement with his wife, the hero Mrs. Blud, after the two of them achieved Security Level 50 in September 2007. Dr. Blud mainly offers advice to the new wave of Battling Monkeys, and enjoys crafting Enhancements for the younger heroes, but will answer the call when necessary to defend his beloved Paragon City.

In 2008, the Bluds' celebrated the 18th birthday of their daughter, who took the occassion to announce her plans to become a superhero by the name of Young Blud. Dr. Blud is very proud of her daughter's decision to become a superhero, but is as concerned as any parent would be under the circumstances.
