Relevant History

Android Rho was first built on an alternate Earth that Portal Corp. has yet to discover. He was produced as part of the Combat Automaton Army, an all-machine fighting force bent on world domination. However, their war with the humans had ground to a stalemate, and so the CAA began to experiment with interdimensional travel, hoping to find valuable resources to use in their war against mankind. Rho was the first test subject.

The test was an almost complete disaster. While Rho made it to Primal Earth, the extreme magnetic fluctuations involved warped and tore his body, even managing to overcome his hard drive's electromagnetic shielding and severely damage his artificial intelligence. The experimental portal dumped the damaged, brain-dead Colonel Rho in an alley on Talos Island, where he had the good fortune of being discovered by Bitt Player and Samael Diener before the Freakshow found him.

Bitt and Samael managed to get the ruined robot to Elaina Rhysenn, in hopes of restoring him. However, much of Rho's chassis and internals were beyond repair, and Elaina had to improvise replacements using limited supplies. Worse, Rho's corrupted operating software couldn't boot, and it took Elaina the better part of a year to work out the program's structure from what was left. Fortunately, Elaina was able to get Rho's software working to the point where it could run its self-repairing routine and rebuild itself. However, all of Rho's memories were gone, and he therefore had no clue about his origins or purpose.

Feeling entirely directionless, Android Rho decided to join the Paragon Titans, being of the opinion that they could perhaps find out about his origins, or at least give him something to do with himself. It wasn't until months later, during a clash with General Phi, that Rho learned the truth about himself and his mission. Rho, however, had come to like humanity, and when told he was supposed to be wiping us out, Rho would have none of it.

Current Status

Despite having re-learned his original purpose, Rho has chosen to remain on the side of good and justice. He serves as a dedicated member of the Paragon Titans, and is always willing to lend his considerable capabilities -and tendency for humor- to a problem. Rho has been slowly replacing Elaina's jury-rigged parts with new components of his own design, and as such, his appearance tends to change frequently. Due to his constant desire for self-upgrading, Rho tends to clash with technology-oriented villains, especially the Freakshow.

Personality

Android Rho enjoys tinkering with high-tech devices, including his own body, and thus gets along very well with Elaina Rhysenn. His penchant for humor and eccentricity make him easy to get along with, and he has developed several contacts in Paragon City. Rho has a great fondness for humanity in general, and deeply dislikes those who disrupt society, making him a dedicated and motivated crime-fighter. While Rho would like to help advance our understanding of artificial intelligence, much of his understanding of his own mind is subconcious, and as such, the only way to fully understand how he is sentient would require making complete copies of his operating software, an idea which deeply distresses Rho.

Abilities

Rapid, potent physical attacks are Rho's trademark. His powerful servomotors and hardened frame let him cause grievous harm using his hands and feet, as well as giving him the ability to sprint at speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour. In addition, Rho's superb sensor suite and rapid-processing abilities allow him to evade attacks with relative ease, and complex heuristic subroutines in his operating software let Rho quickly learn and adapt to his enemies' attack patterns.
