'"Seriously, what's this guy's deal?" -Beck Alteridem

Background

Very little in known about Dammerungklinge. Beckett Alteridem recognizes his soul, but can't put a name to it. Dammerungklinge has been slowly accumulating power in the Rogue Isles, but no one really knows how or why he's there. He claims to have stolen his enchanted equipment from a ninja, but can't or won't divulge any details, which causes many to float the theory that he actually bought them, and only claims to have stolen them to make himself seem more dangerous.

Current Status

Dammerungklinge is currently an enforcer for hire on Mercy Island, and he typically deals in assassinations and other covert actions. He makes semi-frequent trips to Paragon City for the singular purpose of challenging Beckett Alteridem in combat, and has ended all such forays in an Arachnos reclimator, thanks to his link with Arachnos' Medicom network. Dammerungklinge is always looking for ways to increase his power, a fact that many groups on the Rogue Isles use and abuse.

Personality

A singularly unforgiving individual, Dammerungklinge is driven by his hatred for Beckett Alteridem, seeking revenge for every time Beckett has defeated him. He desires more power, intending to one day be able to defeat Beck in single combat. This drive borders on madness, and is well into the realm of foolishness, blinding Dammerungklinge to the often-false promises of those who offer him power in exchange for his service. It is believed by the Fortunatas that before his death, Dammerungklinge will have been tricked by every major faction on the Isles into executing difficult and dangerous assassinations. Regardless, Dammerungklinge believes that those who remain dedicated to their goals will reach them in the end, and no one told him defeating Beckett Alteridem would be easy.

Dammerungklinge tends to remain calm and collected, except under pressure, when he frequently cracks. He throws German words and phrases into his speech in an apparent attempt to seem impressive or intelligent, but is not fluent in the language, and rarely uses it correctly. At least he knows that sneak attacks don't work out if you shout before striking.

Abilities

For all his apparent idiocy, Dammerungklinge is decent with a sword, and is also highly agile and talented in moving stealthily. However, he isn't as sneaky as he'd like to be, and his swordsmanship needs a lot of work before it can compare to most blade-wielding metahumans.

Equipment

Ninja Robe

This robe is the central reason why Dammerungklinge is any sort of threat at all. It is heavily enchanted with magics intended to make attacks miss the wearer. It has been known to turn blades aside and redirect bullets, making it difficult to hit Dammerungklinge. More than that, it can mask Dammerungklinge's presence by making him nearly impossible to see, though its effects on electronics are limited, and those with heightened senses may still be able to detect him, depending on how above-normal their senses are. This robe's power seems to increase as Dammerungklinge's skill does, so he becomes increasingly more difficult to hit as his swordsmanship improves.

Ninjatō

This straight-bladed sword also carries some enchantments, though they aren't as powerful or unusual as those on Dammerungklinge's robe, and are limited to making the blade difficult to dull or break.
