Description

The Alteridem Foundation is a philanthropic organization dedicated to starting the careers of promising new heroes. At least, in theory. In practice, they're essentially a normal Super Group with very active recruitment and a high turnover rate. While most of the Foundation's members don't stick around very long, there does exist a core group of "veteran" Foundation members. The Alteridem Foundation's most significant aspects are that they seem to be the only people who can coax the reclusive mad genius called Chihiro-san out of wherever she seems to disappear to, and being the one and only source of heroes who use Force of Will, which many people and organizations tend to argue about when they haven't anything better to do.

In addition to its heroes, the Foundation has a small support staff, including doctors and liaisons with other groups.

Heroes

The faces of the Alteridem Foundation, the heroes tend to get the most attention. Many of them also fill civilian roles in the Foundation.

Support Staff

The Foundation's staff work behind the scenes to keep the group going. They work as doctors, information-gatherers, or as the Foundation's connection to other groups.

Doctor Bruce Malone

Despite his large, intimidating stature, Doctor Malone is personable and easy-going. He is a retired boxer with over a dozen years of experience as a general medical practitioner, and his job is to keep the Alteridem Foundation's members free of illness and infection, a job which is only complicated by the number of odd ways of becoming unhealthy which are only available to heroes. Doctor Malone goes about his work in a slow, methodical manner, and is a detail-oriented person. In addition to his work as a general practitioner, Doctor Malone also has surgical training, and is capable of addressing internal injuries.

Doctor Adelaide Testarossa

Animated and energetic, Doctor Testarossa gets along very well with Megan Alteridem. This is good, since the two see a lot of each other. Doctor Testarossa is the Foundation's orthapedic and trauma specialist, so she's the one the Foundation turns to when broken bones need setting or bullets and flechette fragments need removing. Doctor Testarossa keeps a collection of specialized Impervium surgical tools on hand, which are designed for metahuman surgery.

The Kunoichi

A mysterious young woman who wears traditional ninja outfits, turns up without warning, may actually be more than one person, and always seems to know what's going on. The Kunoichi is the Foundation's one (or more)-woman information network, and seems to have the mysterious power to not be noticed when she doesn't want to be. She seems to answer to Keiko Alteridem, and rumors abound as to who she truly is.

Riley McGrath

The Foundation's connection to Paragon City's small lycanthrope community. Like all lycanthropes, Reilly can shift at will between his fully-human form and another, beast-like form. Paragon's lycanthropes are considering whether or not to join the hero community as part of their efforts to integrate with normal society.

Engineer Mu'Gul

A Rikti Traditionalist who joined the Foundation despite Vanguard's insistance on keeping a lid on the Traditionalist movement, Mu'Gul believes in a world where human and Rikti live in harmony. Mu'Gul feels that this can only be accomplished by making it clear that the pro-human Rikti Traditionalists are in the majority back on Rikti Earth, and that the Traditionalists prefer peace. Mu'Gul intends to integrate himself into human society, so that he and his fellow Traditionalists can eventually gain acceptance from humanity. Engineer Mu'Gul has spent a lot of time with Beckett, Megan, and Cyril Alteridem, and has picked up a number of their turns of phrase, albiet with a distinct speech pattern: Rikti flavor.

Enemies

The Alteridem Foundation, like most Super Groups, seems to attract its share of antagonists. While there are currently only a few truly significant threats, more and more villains seem to be developing personal grudges against the Foundation's members on a more or less regular basis, and there are some concerns about the possibility of these people organizing, even temporarily.
