Duskvolt (Infinity)
Overview
|
Her homeworld was a peaceful one, despite the weather that left it eternally shrouded. Its geology and weather left it warm enough for life to flourish, for a race of predators to gain sentience and become civilized. That race was the Du'Lin. Their culture was not unaware of war, predators as they were to begin with, but learned the hard way to look for alternate ways to deal with their differences after nearly driving themselves to extinction.
Millenia passed, the Du'Lin developing both technology and magic, priestesses and scientists joining to lead the race to a golden age - one shattered when a force of Rk'th (Rikti) arrived on the world via portal to use its resources and use it as a staging ground. This zealot branch of the Lineage of War cared nothing for the "inferior" catlike beings already living there. They would live or die, it didn't matter to these Rikti.
The Du'lin reminded them quickly of how vulnerable they were to magic, especially with this branch not accepting the mutated Lost into their ranks. The Du'lin fought bravely, the Rikti brought reinforcements, and the Du'lin - though taking many invaders with them - found themselves faced with the annihilation of their race. Learning the Rikti came not from another world, but another dimension, they feverishly researched - finally developing a techno-magical "portal" system of their own. They sent some of their kind away to ensure survival, especially with their young. But one resistance leader, the priestess called Duskvolt, was sent with a small group to "Primal Earth," a world seemingly at the center of these universes. There, she would seek help and find a way to free her world, driving the invaders away once and for all.
