Fantastigal is a native of the planet Calipsa located in the system Earth astronomers know as Omega Persei. The planet is what would be considered a "heavy gravity" world in comparison to Earth, being of a higher mass. The home of an advanced civilization, Calipsa is several hundred years farther advanced then Earth in the areas of science and technology. However, unlike many advanced societies, the Calipsans discourage interstellar travel, and instead rely mostly on other races coming to them for trade. They have developed technology to offer travel between star systems at superluminal velocities called the Theta Beam. Instead of using a ship, the Theta Beam converts a being or object to energy, and transmits that energy through space to reach an endpoint where the beam reconstitutes the traveler.

Like Earth however, Calispa has a thriving entertainment media and "super hero" type programing is not uncommon. It was in this society that Lia grew up, idolizing heroes such as "Stellar Prime" and "Power Lance". As she grew older, she learned that because of the nature of their biology, Calipsans would enjoy "super" powers on many of the other worlds in the galaxy, even ones in their near stellar neighborhood. Because of their overall societal aversion to travel outside their own star system, however, there were few if any Calipsan "heroes" operating elsewhere. Lia, however, decided she would like to make her fantasy a reality. Upon the end of her primary education, she applied to and was accepted to one of her world's university type institutions. Her goal was not learning, but to gain access to the school's Theta Beam transport. Sneaking into the lab one night, she reprogrammed the device to send her to a world that would offer her the life she sought, a small blue world called Earth. Earth, being in a star system of higher ambient energy and having lower gravity and mass, offers Calipsans a variety of abilities. Their strength, speed, and endurance are all enhanced far beyond human norms.
