The Hall of Justice is a hero group on the Victory server.

This is the Supergroup, The Hall of Justice, which is a branch of The Hall of Justice. For other branches, see The Hall of Justice.

Guidelines

1. Fun – This is one of the most important rules of all; this is a game and its purpose is to entertain us and relax us from our other daily activities.

2. Team/Assist Members – It is every HOJ members responsibility to help another HOJ member who is in need of assistance or team. If you cannot provide assistance at that moment then you must inform your fellow HOJ members of your status.

3. Smart – Playing "smart" is the key to winning the battle and minimizing casualties. In HOJ, there is no such thing as a "gimped build" or "gimped AT." Your play style will determine how successful you are with your character.

CODE OF ETHICS

1. Respect – City of Heroes/City of Villains is being played in different countries with different cultural backgrounds and by people of all ages; therefore, you must use caution with your use of language and humor. Other members may take offense to what you may say in the communication (Team/Supergroup/etc.) channel, so be respectful.

2. Parking (AFK) – If you are on a team and must go Away From Keyboard, then you must inform everyone on the team and for how long. Do not AFK if you’re gaining low "xp" or "inf," if you really must go, then go.

3. Understanding – Communicate with each other if there is a difference in opinion between players by handling the matter through private “tells.”

4. Professionalism – Every member must conduct themselves in a professional way. Set a good example for HOD members and the community of the Victory server.

5. Leveling – No Power Leveling shall be allowed on HOJ supergroup. You must earn every XP you gain. You may team up with higher level heroes, but you must earn your XP by fighting and taking the same risk as your comrades.

TEAM REQUIREMENTS

1. Register on HOJ Forum – We require each member to register on our supergroup Forum. This is the best way to stay informed about our supergroup.

2. Reading – Members are required to check the “HOJ Announcements” and “HOJ/E Discussions” forums at least once a week, for new information.

3. HOJ Super-suit – Please save one of your costume slots for the supergroup uniform. Members can find the specs of the supergroup uniform in the information section of The Hall of Doom website. We will provide infamy to members to purchase a costume change if necessary.

4. Global Chat – All members are required to be part of the “HOJ” Global Chat. HOJ channel must be visible at all times because it is our main communication line between all HOJ/D supergroups.

5. Greetings (Optional) – It is customary for HOJ members to say “Hello” and “Goodbye” during log-in or log-out. Members are not required to do this, but we strongly recommend doing this basic greeting. This simple task increases the chance of “invite to team” almost immediately..

PLAYER ISSUES

1. Leave of Absence – If you are going on vacation or cannot play for a more than 30 days, then you must post the starting date and end date of your time off on our forum.

2. Player Complaints – If you have any complaints please seek the Founders or Architects.

3. Player Suggestions – If you have any suggestions or ideas please inform the Founders or Architects.

Base Storage

Storage is great and can be easily leveraged for a net gain in influence and prestige for the group.

For example, my 39 Science scrapper gets some Trainings and DO drops along with a few SOs of differing origin. I drop the everything I can't use off into storage and look for Science SOs of appropriate level and type. I find one and drop it into my inventory for combination.

Example 2: My Mutation defender hits 22 and is ready for SOs. I go to storage and see if there are any SOs I can slot. I find 3 and pull them out of inventory. I also see quite a few high level Trainings and SOs that no one will slot. I take those and sell them to finance a changeover to SOs.

Example 3: My 43 natural tank is inf poor as he hasn't been earning inf since level 35. He turns off SG mode and quickly amasses close to a million infamy. He's then able to purchase his own SOs at 47. He also continues to drop all his Training, DOs and non-useful SOs into storage. He's also able to make inf grants to lower level characters who can't quite afford all the SOs they need/want.

Storage is a great way to get full value from enhancements. Instead of selling ones you can't use for less than half the purchase price, you save someone else from having to purchase it at full price.

Example 4: (Setting: Some time in the near future) My mutation controller hits 32. She goes to storage and is able to find more than a third of her needed SOs. She then takes 10-20 level 40-53 DOs and sells them to get the rest. She knows that she's saved a bunch of inf by 'shopping locally'.

Some other storage hints:

Every time you pass through the base, sell your Catch a Breaths and Respites to the Auto-Doc/Tree of Wonder. It's an easy way to make 100-300 inf every trip. Over the course of a journey to 50 that adds up.

Every time you pass through the base, drop off your salvage. When it comes time for our architects to upgrade the base, they'll have access to plenty of materials to create new goodies.

Every time you pass through the base, drop off your medium and large inspirations as well as any awakens you don't need. Awakens are expensive for lower level characters, and if you're like me you usually end up deleting them to make room for other, more useful inspiration drops. Every Awaken a lower level character doesn't have to buy is 250 inf they can spend someplace else. Also those medium and large inspirations will be there for your next task/strike force, trial or AV battle.

June 24, 2009

By 2012, this policy had modified as follows: drop off only super and large inspirations; store level 51-53 SO enhancements and store all other SO enhancements only if there is room after storage of IO enhancements; drop off what salvage you felt you could spare for communal use.

Dynamic Rostering

Prior to the increase of SG membership from 75 to 150 in Issue 11, The Hall of Justice was using a Dynamic Roster, described below.

"Supergroups are a very important part of City of Heroes and City of Villains. Unfortunately, the game limits supergroups to 75 characters. In an effort to overcome these limitations, we have developed a "dynamic rostering" system.

When a supergroup member is online, whichever character they are playing is part of the supergroup. If the supergroup is full and it becomes necessary to invite someone else currently online, a leader can kick the character that was played least recently to create a spot in the roster.

The dynamic rostering system is not perfect but until supergroups can have more than 75 characters, we must work within and around the limits of the game.

Invitations:

To keep this simple, everyone has permission to invite to the supergroup. If anyone needs an invitation, any supergroup member is able to respond.

Every Founder and Architect rank Hall of Justice member will maintain one permanent character in the supergroup that will be occupied by their main hero. They will have the ability to drop offline characters to make room for members logging in. This will ensure that there is always a group of higher ranking characters available for promotions and to remove characters from the supergroup as we become full.

Invitation Process:

How it works if a member that has a character that needs to be invited to the supergroup:

1 Whenever a member logs in, check to see if your current hero character gets The Hall of Justice supergroup message of the day (MOTD).

If you do see the supergroup MOTD, the character is still in the supergroup and nothing needs to be done.

If you do not see the supergroup MOTD, either send a message to the HOJ global channel asking for an supergroup invite and give your character’s name. Alternately, use the bind below and the message will be sent for you.

/bind alt+i "send HOJ, Invite $name to The Hall of Justice please. Who is available to do this?"

It is suggested that all members add this keybind to your hero characters on Victory:

2 Someone should respond in the HOJ channel and give you an estimate of how long it will take to get a supergroup invitation sent.

3 Once the supergroup invite window pops up, click yes to join. After joining, let everyone know the invite was taken care of by sending a message in the supergroup chat channel and in HOJ global chat. Also remember to turn on supergroup mode. Alternately, use the bind below to send the two messages and automatically turn supergroup mode on.

/bind ctrl+i "send HOJ, $name was invited to The Hall of Justice$$sg Thank you!$$sgmode 1"

It is suggested that all members add this keybind to your hero characters on Victory:

If after accepting the invitation, you get a "Supergroup is Full" message, please let everyone on the HOJ channel know about it. If one of the Founders, Architects or Recruiters is currently online, then they will kick a few offline characters beginning with those that have not logged in for the longest time. The leaders will attempt to always have slots open by kicking any member that has not logged in for the last 14-28 days.

How it works if any member needs to invite another member to the supergroup:

If a member of The Hall of Justice is online and on a Hall of Justice character, type /sgi [name], where [name] is the name of the character wishing to join the supergroup. Another useful keybind for this purpose is /bind shift+i "beginchat /sgi ". When someone indicates they need an invite, simply type shift+i and then their name.

If a member of The Hall of Justice is online, but is not on a Hall of Justice character, please send a message to the HOJ channel responding to the member requesting an invitation with an estimate of how long it will take to send an invitation.

Please make sure to only invite people who make requests on the HOJ channel to avoid accidentally inviting someone who is not a member of the supergroup.

Activity Requirements:

Since members will not always be playing the same character, members will need to log into The Hall of Justice website to show that they are remaining active. Members will need to log in here at least once a month (minimum) to keep informed of what is going on, but you are not required to play any particular character every week.

All members should be in supergroup mode at all times.

Sponsorship:

The majority of the roster for the Hall of Justice should be characters level 1-34 always playing in supergroup mode. However, characters past level 34 can still be a part of the supergroup. They can either continue to earn prestige or occasionally play out of supergroup mode in order to earn inf for themselves and others in need. Beginning at level 25, characters in supergroup mode earn increasingly less infamy so that by level 35, a character is only earning prestige. The goal of sponsorship is to keep Hall of Justice characters in supergroup mode by having members with lots of infamy donate to them as needed.

Sponsorship Guidelines::

Members receiving gifts need to remain in supergroup mode and to earn prestige with that character. That's the whole point.

The infamy is a gift. If the character earns enough infamy later to sponsor someone else that is wonderful. However, there is no "loan" to be repaid.

Only full members can make requests. This avoids someone joining for a few days, getting a bunch of inf and then vanishing.

Here are some approximations of amounts needed at various levels: Level 27 = 1.3 million Level 32 = 1.9 million Level 37 = 2.7 million Level 42 = 3.5 million Level 47 = 4.6 million

BENEFITS

The dynamic rostering system also has tons of advantages.

Every member of the Hall of Justice who’s online is in the SAME supergroup as you.

You’re able to see everyone’s level and AT on the supergroup tab, making organizing teams much easier. Right-clicking on someone's name in the supergroup tab allows you to send them team invites too. All members share the same base and since everyone online will be able to use it, it is more lively and fun instead of dead like the Dance Club.

Everyone online is available to join you for supergroup-only events such as the special supergroup-only trials and supergroup arena matches.

When our base gets attacked, any Hall of Justice member online will be able to defend it.

We all share the same Items of Power and the buffs they give us. No “haves” and “have nots” in this supergroup!

Since our only size limit is the maximum number or people online at once, we can maintain a large supergroup.

We all contribute prestige to and craft items for the same base.

I also think it would be a great idea to remove any other supergroup extensions like Hall of Justice ALTS. Since I see a lot of active characters that could be better off in the main supergroup earning prestige.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Bases are purchased, upgraded and rent paid with Prestige. Unlike inf, it goes directly to the supergroup not to your character. To earn Prestige for the supergroup, your character must be in supergroup mode. There is a button on the in-game supergroup tab which says “enter supergroup mode”. While playing in supergroup mode, you not only earn Prestige for the upkeep of the base, you also receive the benefits from our Items of Power. You also get "salvage" drops which can be used to craft items for the base."
