History
In the year 895, Nippon was a land in the midst of great turmoil. Kaizen, a powerful mystic, wished to ensure that his clan would survive the coming tumult. To accomplish this, Kaizen made a pact with a powerful demon lord. In exchange for the eternal servitude of the first born son of every generation, the demon lord would secure the future of Kaizen’s clan.
And so every thirty years, for the next thousand years, the demon lord would appear enforce the pact and claim the first born son . . . until 1945. When the demon lord appeared for the first born son, the clan had no sons to give after the devastation of World War II. Angered, the demon lord declared the pact broken, leaving the clan to survive on its own fortune. However, before departing for his home dimension, as a penalty, the demon lord abducted an infant girl from the clan, Tomei.
Tomei grew up in the cruel and harsh demon realm, trained to be one of the demon lord's bodyguards. However, there came a day when the demon lord was attacked by a rival. Tomei seized upon this opportunity to gather all who the demon lord had enslaved over the centuries and to escape back to Nippon.
Freed from the demon lord, yet out of place in the modern world, Tomei and the other refugees established a small coastal village where they could live out the rest of their lives in peace. However, within a few years, the village came under attack by an unknown enemy, forcing Tomei to take up her swords again.
Tomei's search for the enemy attacking her people led her to Paragon City where she came to combat the city's evils, while searching for her hidden enemy.
