Early Life
Born into a wealthy family with a nicely sized manor and the land to go with it, the boy who would become Midnight Owl had a surprisingly easy early life. Through extensive, top level home education he was able to complete secondary level education by the age of 10. His youth activities had him find his first true passion in life, archery. Living far away from other children meant there wasn't a lot to do other than read and perfect his marksmanship.
Eventually his parents entered him into tournaments where he first saw the scale of his abilities and, after dominating the competition, caught the eye of Government talent scouts. He was invited to a secret academy that taught young, potential operatives how to best utilise their abilities. Having this much tension around when he first started meeting other people his age, the young Midnight Owl thought very little of his peers, often getting into arguments and occasionally fights.
With each confrontation he grew stronger, both in his ability to read situations, and how to act accordingly. This made his tutor's jobs difficult, as for an Academy that aimed to teach it's students to excel at one area of combat, James was quickly becoming better than the rest at everything he did.
After pressure to make an example of him was mounting by the other students' parent for his growing discontent nature, the headmaster announced he was being excluded, when he was really being sent to M.I. Zero for further training.
Military Years
A swift transaction from induction to deployment followed. James travelled the world as an MI0 operative hunting war criminals, drug lords and human trafficking organisations under dozens of different identities. His sleepless obsession with the mission at hand, and his 360 degree awareness of his surroundings earned him the codename "Owl Zero" for use in future operations.
It was on one of these later missions he encountered his first super-level target - the quickly rising crime lord Mr. Mask. The first man to ever best James Williams at anything, "Owl Zero" failed to present any information of even minor significance after six months of observation and study of his target. The operation was disbanded, Williams debriefed and sent off on a few low priority observational missions.
Its was here that "Owl Zero" truly began his journey into becoming "Midnight Owl".
