Specta Phantom is a Hero on the Triumph Server. He is currently acting Chief of the Supergroup Triumph Search and Rescue, also known as TSAR.
Origin
Dr. Robert Specto was a famous researcher of light and dark energies at the Paragon University. However, he was not famous for discovering anything, but famous because many thought his therories were ludicrse. His theroy was the Light and Dark energies contantly battled in a paralle world he called, the Spectral World.
He was laughed out of every University in the United States when he presented his argument. The only place that he belived would put up with his research was Paragon City. Late one night in his lab, he discovered a small light particle hovering around him. At first he thought it was his eyes. Dr. Specto returned to his work. Once again he saw this light, larger this time. He picked up a glass beaker and placed it over the light, trapping it. A rush of adrenaline took over him. He rushed to some make shift machines to analize his find. But when he went to place the beaker in the machine. The misterious light disappear.
Fed up with the whole thing, he smashed the glass on the ground. The doctor had no luck. However, as he was cleaning, the light appeared once more. This time, it took a human form, glowing as bright as a sun. Dr. Specto, dropped the beaker once more, and reached out to touch this being. As his hand moved inside the beings light, there was a bright flash and vaccuum style it was going into the Doctor's arm. Dr. Specto cryed out in pain as the being took over his body. He would then pass out until morning.
When the Doctor woke up, something was different. He felt as if fate of humanity was placed on his shoulders, a great sorrow filled him. He looked around his lab, it looked like a train wreck. He saw blood all over the floor. Fearing the worst he frantically searched for someone or something that caused the pool of blood, only to realize that a shard of glass was imbedded into his leg. He removed the jagged glass, and like some miricale it started to heal. Thats when his body started to glow and out stepped the same glowing figure from the night before.
Specto screamed at the creature "What the heck are you!". It did not awser. The doctor ordered the creature to identify itself and why it attacked him. The being did not respond. However, in an instant moment, images filled the Doctor's head. The creature called itself a Specta. It has no formal name however, many just call him Lord Phantom. The doctor asked the creature why it was inside him. More images flashed into the doctors head, forcing him to sit down.
He first saw a light world. One that looked exactly like the Doctor's own, only beings made of light, like Lord Phantom, flew around. Anything that the light touched came to life. If you can imagine a world with no troubles and only happiness, this was it. The image flew past many buildings and through the country side. Out of no where a black wall appeared on the horizon. The wall got larger, and larger. So much so that it looked like it reached from the depths of the Planet to the sky. The image was not moving any more. A brand new image flashed on the screen. It was another being, only this one was so black and so dark it looked like the light was being sucked right inside, like a black hole. This being seemed solid though. Upon thinking this he got a feeling that said he was correct.
Another image flashed infront of Specto. This time he was back in his own world, only in the fabled Rogue Islands. There was a man, he looked very ill and pale, he was walking down a dark alley. Upon noticing the alley, the Doctor noticed that it was too dark. All of the sudden there was a scream and a thud. The man was on the ground, around him was a dark aura. A brief flash of the prefious image, the one that looked more solid. A voice then rang through Dr. Specto's head:
"Human. I have come to you in a matter of need. Your theroys are correct, there is a spectral world. One in which the light battles the dark. As you have seen, there is an army growing. That black "wall" as you thought it was was actually a massive Dark Spectral army, moving in on the Light City. The Light City is a perfect world, from it all light is generated. There is also a Dark City, one in which all Darkness spreads. We fight one another regularly. It repeats itself. Every time the war breaks out, the Light and Dark battle one another, only to lead to a Light victory, this is why the Darkness in your world retreats when there is Light present. As victors we get this benifit. Since Light always wins, most of your world depends on it. The war never breaks out of our Spectral World, until now. As i stated, I come in a matter of need. That man you saw in the alley was the leader of the Dark City as i am leader of the Light City. He is called Lord Specto. It is no coicendnce your name is the same as his, your dark energies are in fact him. This is why i must come to you. He has taken a human host. In a struggle to win, he belives that if he belives that if he can plunge your world into darkness, he will be able to draw enough power to take over the Light City once and for all. I am afraid he is right. We all gain power from the Light and Darkness in your world. There is a direct link. If he manages to create a world of darkness, both worlds will be destroyed. Light will no longer exist in either one. I must now ask you this, may i take you as a host so we can battle Lord Specto, if we do not, he will gain what he wants. The world is based on balance, I must take a host to balance the system once again."
The doctor nodded. The being stepped into the Doctor. Later that day, Dr. Specto signed up as a Hero of Paragon City under the Alias of Specta Phantom.
Illusion Control
Specta Phantom, thanks to his "Specta" residing in him, can control light. He has the ability to blind others with flashes of light, create Spectral Beings out of thin air. His "Specta" is his personal body guard, keep Specta Phantom safe. He also has the ability to render himself completely invisible.
Empathy
Due to the Light's nature of healing, Specta Phantom can heal others with just a thought. It is his way of creating a perfect world like what he saw in the images.
Psychic Abilities
Another side effect of the merger, Specta Phantom has the ability to attack and communicate Telepathically. He mainly uses this to subdue foes though, Specta Phantom does not support the use of his powers to invade thoughts.
Supergroup Affiliation
Specta Phantom joined the Triumph Search and Rescue Supergroup in late August of 2006. He felt that the supergroup's mission statements of "Heroes Helping Heroes" and other aspects really reflected on what he thought would bring about the perfect world he saw in the Images. He was a member of the "Last Class" of Heroes to graduate out of the Probationary phase. After the promotion from Proby to SAR Tech, many members fell to the massive villian forces that seemed to be comeing out of no where. One of the few active memebers of the Supergroup, the Acting Chief Office Manager promoted Specta Phantom to the position of Dispatcher. Eventually everyone would fade away back into normal lives leaving 4 upstanding members in the Supergroup. A complete overhaul of the Supergroup in 2007 resulted in another promotion to Deputy Chief. However, Specta Phantom left the country for several years, and upon his return there was no one left fighting crime as much as they used to. Specta Phantom being the only member left in the Supergroup who was fighting crime and supporting the city, took over the Acting Chief position from the previous acting Chief Sister Leothra.
