The Nuburea Cult is a custom enemy group that appears in the Mission Architect story arc Messenger of Death. They are the primary group of adversaries during the arc, attempting to perform a major ritual in Paragon City. |
Characters History
Nuburea was an evil African demigod who lived eons ago. Much like Ankomhoj, he was immortal, but eventually his spirit was manually separated from his body and banished to the Netherworld. His body did not decay, however, and the cult would subsequently search for a way to bring him back. To this end, they eventually allied themselves with Ankomhoj's followers, although they did not share all of their research findings in order to prevent a potential rival.
In early 2007, Patriarch Ounwadeo and his group had successfully created the ritual, intending to perform it in Paragon City. Meanwhile, the ritual to free Ankomhoj failed when a "Messenger" of Osiris entered her body instead, proceeding to destroy the surprised cultists and track Nuburea's followers to Paragon. This eventually attracted the local heroes, who arrived just when the ancient villain had returned. A battle ensued, and the heroes managed to subdue Nuburea and reverse the ritual before he was able to cause any actual damage.
