− | ===What She's Been Told===
| |
− | Rebecca Paige Thompson was born in Boston, Massachusetts as a homebirth when her mother gave her up to a Fire Station under the Safe Harbor Act. She has been raised by various families as a toddler, then a family adopted her when she was 4. After a couple of years, the parents died in a car accident with Paige the only survivor, making her an orphan again. Since she turned eight, she's been in and out of foster homes, group homes, and after a particularly abusive foster parent, she was placed in a home with what was her final adoptive mother, Kathy Pirillo. Kathy noticed Paige's abilities and took her to special classes and training in Massachusetts.

| |
− | ===The Path to Paragon City===
| |
− | Unfortunately, Kathy was hiding a dark side. Her brother a member of The Family, her addiction to pain meds and drinking, and after adopting Paige, the two were living on her disability alone which is why she took foster children in the first place. Kathy and Paige made do, as neither were strangers to living in poverty. In a couple of years when hard times hit, and the monthly checks were IOUs instead of her fixed income, Kathy took risks to keep food on the table. She was busted carrying 2 kilos of a controlled substance across state lines from Rhode Island while borrowing her brother's car.
| |
− |
| |
− | The courts sentenced Kathy to jail. Initially it was probation, but when she heard that DSS was taking Paige away, hysterics made the sentence increase as the judge escalated punishment to try to get her to calm down.
| |
− |
| |
− | But Paige had an ace in her sleeve. Under Kathy's care, she excelled at school. Her homeschooling made it possible for her to pass the GED and bypass High School. At the age of 15, she had a choice: enter the workforce, or try to get admitted to a college early. She opted for Paragon City University.
| |
− |
| |
− | ===Emancipation===
| |
− | Her lawyer, Augustus Payne, negotiated a deal with Paragon City University and the Rhode Island DCYF. Paige would have Augustus as a legal guardian, with weekly visitation. The conditions were for as long as she maintained a high GPA at college, was able to find a mentor under the University that guided her course selections and enrollment decisions, and that she joined the Federal Bureau of Superpowered Affairs as a Hero through enrollment in the Young Heroes Program. This program, in Paragon City and several other metropolitan areas in the U.S., is offered to teenagers that have developed powers. Under Payne's supervision, Paige would not need to be in the Foster Program anymore as long as she continues with schoolwork and hero training. Part of that training was shadowing the PPD during routine beats, which is where she was asked by Detective Martins to sit in on a meeting for a particular mission.

| |
− | ===The Carnival Without===
| |
− | Paige met Devereaux, Linuial, and Tahquitz in pursuing the murders of innocent people by a Carnival of Shadows related group. The task force was assembled with ending the case as soon as possible for a bounty paid by an anonymous donor. The group had difficulties working together, but eventually came together, and detained Shiara of the Carnival of Vengeance for the sum of $2 million dollars to be split four ways. Paige was able to move out of her dorms and into her own place right across the street from the University with that money.
| |
− |
| |
− | But she didn't come out of the mission unscathed. Her visit into Shiara's mind came at a cost as part of Shiara's soul was trapped inside of her, causing her nightmares and a loss of control at certain moments.
| |
− |
| |
− | ===Darkness, Digitized===
| |
− | Her second mission dealt with the Crey Corporation as her teammate, Devereaux, found to be an illegal project using cadavers for illegal purposes. With the help of new teammates Bubastis and Nyghtshade, the project was terminated, Crey embarrassed on national television, and a double cross averted. Unfortunately, in the escape, one of the Malta agents who were intending on using them as scapegoats managed to shoot her in the leg, causing her to lose control of her sonic powers until she made it to the Hospital.
| |
− |
| |
− | Shiara's power inside of her grew as she began to affect Paige's memories. From this, combined with her convalescence after the gun shot wound, Paige ended up cancelling a semester, risking her apartment and setting herself up to return back to the foster system.
| |
− |
| |
− | ===Reunification===
| |
− | When it was time for Shiara to stand trial, Detective Martins tried to get her ready for testimony, when she would barely respond. To avoid dismissing the case, Paige was asked to confront her one last time. In doing so, she purged Shiara from her mind, restoring her abilities and memories to normal. She returned to her classes shortly thereafter and began to put together an important part of her past; everything she has been told before she turned eight might be a falsification.
| |
− |
| |
− | ===Death Becomes Her===
| |
− | Paige's penultimate adventure in Paragon City Stories dealt with the attempted abduction of Nyghtshade by Akpan of the Banished Pantheon to break the binds of Mot in Dark Astoria. During their approach towards Akpan, who cursed Nyghtshade years ago, she became under the influence of Mot and got a glimpse of her past before Mot tried to sway her into becoming his next Sentinel. She resisted with Nyght's help, siphoning Tahquitz's energy into her to allow her mind to break Mot's grasp. After defeating Akpan, Paige was offered to come to Morocco with Devereaux.
| |
− |
| |
− | She never made it to the plane, however, as Orion intercepted Paige and "activated" her to enact his revenge on Crey Corporation.
| |
− |
| |
− | ===What She Hasn't Been Told===
| |
− | Paige is a clone made for a program Crey Corporation developed to make a more low-key Paragon Protector program. No identity, walking among a crowd, ready to stop an interloper or protect a company asset, then they disappear after the conflict, waiting to be used again for the next contract. The program was cancelled by Crey Corporation after half of the subjects were determined to fail the program's goals. Paige was assessed by Crey as not being a specific threat to them, so they 'deactivated' her powers before Orion sent her to Massachusetts to enter a foster program.
| |
− |
| |
− | Paige caused great difficulty to Crey at a young age. Her first foster family went to the press about her past and were ready to publish an exclusive about Project Orion. Orion, in turn, silenced the witnesses (three bodies still missing to this day), then sought a Crey-appointed psychic to wipe her childhood memories, which remained permanent. While this stopped Paige from being able to recall her past, it unknowingly weakened the 'blocks' on her superpowers.
| |
− |
| |
− | ===Orion's Gambit===
| |
− | Under her codename Celaeno, Paige was reunited with two other "sisters": Taygete and Merope after being abducted. Orion ordered the girls to raid an Archival Facility with information on Project Orion to expose Crey's meddling with humans as test subjects against federal law. Unfortunately Orion's intent wasn't to self-incriminate himself to take Crey down, it was to extort Crey into paying him to keep his silence as they get their documents back to destroy, ensuring the evidence is gone. Orion had no intent on letting the girls go, expecting them to serve as Crey's personal bodyguards for the rest of their lives. Crey agreed to the terms, the money traded hands, but as Paige regained self control, she switched the originals with copies and escaped, turning state's evidence to the Courthouse. Orion was arrested, as Crey had to assemble a legal defense to mitigate damages.
| |
− |
| |
− | Unfortunately, in doing this, one of her sisters, Taygete swore vengeance on Orion's arrest and became Paige's nemesis. Her other sister Seneca chose to stay with Paige and become a hero with her help.
| |
− |
| |
− | ===After Orion Fell===
| |
− | ''RP stories not written yet are in Redacted form, highlight to reveal the spoilers: {{redacted|just like that}}.''
| |
− |
| |
− | She is now working through the rest of college. Unfortunately, her time as a hero slowed down her prospects of graduating early, but she's on track to graduate in her early 20's to work in Social Services & Superpowered Relations. Her hope is to eventually open an academy for foster children and teenagers like her who have undeveloped powers as a safe place to train before entering society as heroes or citizens.
| |
− |
| |
− | However, on occasion, Paige gets a text message from an unknown number on an infrequent basis. "I know where your sister is." Not knowing if it's another game Orion is playing or not, she's ignoring it for now. {{redacted|There's also the matter of finding out exactly who her mother is, as Orion is not forward with that information. Seneca has a theory, though, and has a difficult plan to prove it.}}

− | ===Rebuilding Paragon===
| |
− | Paige is currently working in a task force to rebuild parts of Faultline after years of villain intervention prevented the neighborhood's restoration efforts. She is working with familiar faces, as well as new teammates for the first time.

− | Paige is a creation for the Storium website, where an enclave of Titan Forums users have played RP games using City of Heroes characters and settings. The original basis of the character was a villain that was never brought to fruition who was the evil sister of Elara Kanashibari. The costume was reused for the Storium game and the character recast as someone else (the original was a Fire/Ice Dominator, Paige is a Sonic/Sonic Defender.)

Paige Pirillo is a college student at Paragon City University’s Steel Canyon campus. As a fledgling hero, she’s learning her abilities as she goes, but has found out that her once simple past as a ward of the state is unravelling into something she has yet to get to the bottom of.
But the revelations aren’t coming as fast or easily as she’d like them to. As she is nearing the end of her sophomore year, she has finished with developing her Sonic abilities, and has returned to developing a solid grasp on her psionic abilities.
A former experiment from Crey Corporation, Paige Pirillo is a ward of the state who started as a cloned human in a replacement Paragon Protector project with mutagens and gene manipulation performed on an otherwise normal embryo. Shut down from rising expenditures, they ordered her to be terminated at Age 6. Her manager in Project Orion merely 'deactivated' her abilities with a mental block and with help turned her over to the state as an orphan due to her young age.
During High School and College, however, her abilities developed as the block began to slowly fail. Her sonic attacks emerged over time, followed by telepathic abilities. Her ability to maintain communications across non-telepaths and telepath alike makes her useful to teams.
Paige is technically a mutant, as her skin has a elaborate structure of ribs and microhooks designed to create soundwaves from the contact of her skin, increasing in intensity from any use of pressure. Through this, she is able to cast soundwaves from any of her extremities without the use of her voice, ranging in power from a finger snap to do a weak attack, to a full somatic motion of her arms to knock back a large foe. Her most powerful attack with her arms is a Shockwave, using her arms and hands to create a basic soundwave, then amplify it straight into the ground or other solid surface.
Her voice at volume is the source of her most destructive attacks such as Dreadful Wail and Liquefy. Her voice is so powerful she's reluctant to sing let alone yell in a crowd, preferring to use her hands to deliver lesser attacks. She has completed training, and she is able to use sound and somatic movement at will.
Her psychic abilities are the most recent development, with Domination, Mass Hypnosis and World of Confusion. She has yet to learn Telekinesis.
