Ankomhoj (formerly the Gesandte [Messenger]) is a Heroic Blaster on Zukunft (to become a Vigilante). Her Power Sets are Energy Blast and Fire Manipulation.

She has been remade on Reunion as a Corruptor, with Time Manipulation as her secondary powers, currently at level 16.

She is a servant of Osiris occupying the body of an ancient demigoddess.

Mission Architect stories

Character History

The original Ankomhoj was a demigoddess who millennia ago, in an era now considered prehistoric, terrorized northern Africa. Ankomhoj had been born with enormous supernatural powers and failed to see why she should show respect for humans. Great heroes were killed by her, but innocents as well whenever she felt like it. Ultimately, Osiris intervened (they say she had insulted him) and forced her spirit out of her body; however, her few followers secretly preserved it.

In early 2007, the cult at last found it possible to resurrect the demigoddess. But Osiris learned about it and sent a servant into her body. After she had destroyed the cult she found leads to other enemies of her god, and with his permission she remained within Ankomhoj's body to use its power.

"The Messenger" soon discovered that Ankomhoj's followers had been allied with the similar Nuburea Cult. She tracked the cultists to Paragon City, where they were preparing a more powerful version of the ritual to resummon their own evil demigod. The Messenger also discovered and attacked other hostile "cults" such as the Skulls and Arachnos, soon getting into trouble with the Federal Bureau for Super-powered Affairs. She managed to convince the Heroes of the threat Nuburea posed and, after a task force banished the powerful demigod back to the Netherworld, eventually agreed to respect the local laws and cooperate with Freedom Corps against their shared enemies.

In January 2010, the Messenger adopted the name Ankomhoj for herself, supposedly because it felt more powerful and intimidating.

Personality and Motivation

The Messenger is on a crusade against supposed enemies of Osiris – followers of rival entities such as the Circle of Thorns and Arachnos (due to Lord Recluse's connection to Tartaros), along with group she simply considers blasphemous, such as the Skulls. She follows human laws only for pragmatic reasons and has no problem breaking them when "necessary".

Powers and Abilities

Ankomhoj is capable of powerful energy blasts, manipulating fire, flight (with or without visible wings) and limited shapeshifting. Due to officials discouraging her from using lethal force, she also experiments with concealment and intimidation.

Most of these powers seem to be inherent to her body, which led to the FBSA classifying her as a Mutant. She has been seen casting actual magic spells, but only rarely.

Appearance

The Messenger usually employs one of two forms, depending on the image she wants to be conveying: what appears to be Ankomhoj's original form, resembling a cat girl, and one that resembles the angels commonly known to present-day Earthlings.
