Background
Star defensive player for his high school football team, skilled mechanic, and probably a bachelor for life. That pretty much summed up Grant Garrison for you. He was a big man, with a big heart, but he just didn't believe he had the ability to do anything more with his life. Eventually, he would come to understand how wrong he had been.
After having his fifth beer of the afternoon of his first day away from the garage in which he worked in weeks, Grant heard a scream come from the street in front of his second-floor apartment. He dislodged his attention from the football game he had taped from the other night and looked outside to see a woman struggling with a man beside the open door of a fairly nice looking car. It took Grant a second to take his eyes from the glorious paintjob to realize that he was witnessing an attempted vehicle theft!
Grant threw on his shoes and headed outside, heedless of the potential consequences, to intervene on behalf of the lady. Once he got closer, he realized it wasn't just any thug trying to steal her car, but it was a Skull! Grant walked up, and punched the guy in the face, crushing his skull mask in the process. He helped the lady to her feet, allowed her to get into her car, and began to walk away...
It was at that moment, that a Bone Daddy fired a blast of necrotic energy at his wide unprotected back... and it was at that moment, that Grant's hidden (and extrememly late blooming) mutant power came to light! A layer of protective stone formed across his back and deflected the Bone Daddy's blast. Grant, just as surprised as the Skull, turned around to face his attacker, who himself had turned tail and was running as fast as he could.
It was that day, that Grant was finally able to make something of himself, though he never really realized that his simple act of not turning back to his football game had made him a hero even before his ability to create stone weapons with which to defend himself did.
Grant could now add "amateur hero" to his list of descriptors.

Geocore has gone through a lot. Grant Garrison, has been named a few too many things as well. I believe he began life as a Stone/Mace Tanker named Palissade. That didn't last too long. He re-started life as Palissade a Shield/Stone Tanker. And now, he has been re-born yet again as a Shield/Stone Tanker with the name Geocore. As Geocore, Grant is an every-man type of character. A guy who made his own costume to fight crime and uses his mutant powers for good. I especially like about him the fact that his costume is totally feasible and made from bits like goggles and some belts that could be found most anywhere. I also like that his burly size is just this side of normal... and matches his past as a mechanic oh-so-well.
