Planet Ærth

Ærth is a world that is parallel to our own Earth. It is a place in which instead of technology and invention and science, artifacts and magic and alchemy reign supreme. Where here we have guns and tanks, there they have mystical artifacts, sorcerers and trained magical beasts.

For each person on Earth, there is also a "soul-twin" on Ærth. These people are often very much alike, but sometimes they are very different as well. When one dies, the other very often dies as well, but that is not always the case (as it is with Corridor). The fate of each soul-twin is inextricably linked to that of the other world. Most people on Earth are not aware of this connection, nor are most people on Ærth... but the royal family of one particular country there are intimately aware of that fact.

The Vesprian Union

Vespria is analogous to the United States of America. Except on Ærth, the name of the landmass that became known as America on Earth was not named after Amerigo Vespucci, but instead after Vesprigo Maricus. Many places and things have had similar, but alternate, paths on Ærth (like the name of the planet itself).

Background

Aarik was born of royal blood, and with a predestined role in the kingdom of Vespria. He was to serve as the Grand Vizier (who is essentially the military's head) when he comes of the proper age. Aarik is not especially sure that he wants this particular position, but he knows that it is his duty, and he is too honorable to turn it down.

Aarik is as curious as he is honorable, and discovered an artifact known as the Twinning Plane in his many journeys around the castle's interior. This artifact allows the user to peer from one universe, into its twin. It is with this object, that he one day discovered his soul-twin, Jewelblade. Jewelblade was a fledgling hero in Paragon City who happened to be fighting some Hellions inside Pandora's Box Magic Shop. Aarik saw this battle taking place and noticed that it was going poorly for him, and due to his honorable nature wished to help... but did not know how.

Not long after, Jewelblade fell against the magic mirror just as Aarik placed his hands onto his side of the glass. At that moment, there was a flash of light, and Aarik had fallen into Paragon City, able to save a friend he had never met from the Hellions. With him, he carried an artifact called the Spiritglass through which he could channel energy to attack his foes.

The Nemesis

(No, not that Nemesis.)

Aarik Targreave, who is to be the Grand Vizier of the Vesprian Union, has a bitter rival who will stop at nothing to achieve his goal: to rule over all of Vespria (and eventually Ærth) with an iron fist. Ven Relorgrin is that man... though most refer to him as Corridor. What stands in his way, are two things: the current king, and Aarik. With Aarik in Paragon City, he thought he had one problem solved, but that was not the case.

Ven discovered that there is one more thing that he needs: the other side of the Twinning Plane that Aarik fell through in order to end up in Paragon City. So, now Ven must journey to Paragon as well to inevitably face Aarik and take the Plane for himself.

Metagame Information

This section pertains to out-of-game information and is included for the benefit of the reader, or to include other OOC information.

Aarik Targreve, otherwise known as Spiritglass, was the first character I made who resides in a parallel Earth called Ærth. His world is one in which magic and sorcery developed instead of technology, and where we use physics chemistry and engines, they would use mysticism, alchemy and magical artifacts. There are a few other characters in my stable that hail from the same location, and are in fact directly interrelated to Aarik. In his world, another key detail is that America is called not the United States, but the Vesprian Union (taking Amerigo Vespucci's surname instead of his first name to name the continent).
