Two other heroes are already present, supposedly, but it looks like they aren't up to it. Nor is security, I suppose.

Save Melendez Nautics

I'm wondering what the Circle would want with nautical stuff. Maybe they're going to sail away from here at last.
I'm also wondering why I'm supposed to handle this. That building's in eastern Steel, so Azuria's office is closer!
|
It soon becomes clear that the Circle is trying to assume ownership of the company. Even though it is rumored to go public next year.
- 2 civilians to find
- 3 family members to save
- 2 other heroes to find (optional)

Battle dialogue
Before combat:
Circle of Thorns: You're fired!
Combat start:
Circle of Thorns: Protect our employers!
|
Patrol dialogue
Circle of Thorns 1: If we're going to keep this company we should consider moving it to Oranbega, for improved security.
Circle of Thorns 2: What? I was hoping for this to be our ticket out of that fug.
|
Employee dialogue
Before combat:
Circle of Thorns: We reject your resignation.
Combat start:
Circle of Thorns: No! This is our expert!
Employee: Arrr! That's what I get for joining the lubbers!
|
Yet Another Employee dialogue
Before combat: I'm volunteering for redundancy due to business operations.
Combat start:

What Apparently Went On
|
"They must have known this would happen. First thing this morning, they brought those angels or heroes or whomever in. Still, demons came to take over their bodies. When the heroes tried to interfere, the demons called their reinforcements. They do appear to be really serious about this."
|
Sonia Melendez dialogue
Before combat:
Circle of Thorns: You're the daughter? Then we now own you, too.
Sonia Melendez: We could discuss this if you weren't so rude!
Combat start:
Circle of Thorns: The girl is mine, uh, ours!
Upon rescue: Oh well, being a businessgirl stinks, anyway.
|
Lady Angel dialogue
Before combat:
Circle of Thorns: We do not think much of angels who fight us.
Lady Angel: This is a misunderstanding, I'm just a nurse! Although I did fight a lot the last two weeks …
Combat start:
Circle of Thorns: More "heroes"!
Lady Angel: Yay, more heroes! I mean, real heroes!
Once free: Hey, would you be interested in becoming an angel? Oh, right, you already have powers …
If lost: $name? Where are you? I can't fight by myself, regardless of what that Gehirnsturm bar says!
If refound: Thanks. I knew a hero like you wouldn't leave others alone.
50% Health: Do we have a healer? Oh no, I'm the healer …
Defeated: Gotta go back to the hospital I'm afraid … no, seriously!
|
The Messenger dialogue
Before combat:
Circle of Thorns: Are you accepting that we are the good guys this time?
The Messenger: Yes, but you are enemies of my master, so I will continue to fight you.
Combat start:
Circle of Thorns: Too late, reinforcements!
The Messenger: At last, reinforcements.
Once free: Let's send them back to Hell.
If lost: $name? Hey, leave some for me!
If refound: Let's be a force of demon banishment, or whatever you say in your language.
75% Health: Take this, servants of … whoever Oranbega's master is!
25% Health: A little help here? I'm not that invulnerable …
Defeated: No! I must retreat, but I'll be back!
|
Benita Melendez dialogue
Before combat:
Circle of Thorns: Yeah, we get it.
Benita Melendez: As the new boss of this business, I order you to protect me!
Combat start:
Circle of Thorns: She's talking to us, suckers!
Benita Melendez: No! Not you! Go away!
Upon rescue: Leave me alone! You're fired and stuff!
|
Joshua Melendez dialogue
Before combat:
Circle of Thorns: You're getting on our nerves.
Joshua Melendez: Why do I always have to take the male body?
Combat start:
Circle of Thorns: Your help is not needed.
Joshua Melendez: Not to mention I'm unable to perform magic!
Upon rescue: Don't you have anything better to do? … uh, thanks or something.

I'm afraid the infernal forces were the good guys this time. Thirteen years ago, Joshua and Benita Melendez sold themselves and their belongings to the demons so they would make them successful. And now it was time to pay. The contract appears to be valid. Oops.
Fortunately, innocents have been hurt, so the demons' stuff has been frozen pending investigation. And under local law, "belongings" may not include a teenage daughter.
